Sitecore Symposium 2017: Thoughts and Takeaways

From 2011 to 2017, it’s been a privilege to watch Sitecore Symposium grow. Last week in Las Vegas, more than 2,900 people proved that Sitecore is more of a global presence than ever.

2017 was a big year for Hedgehog. From launching our latest (and, we think, most powerful) version of TDS Classic yet, to the introduction of SEO and marketing operations services, we were proud to be a Platinum Sponsor for the best Symposium yet.

Sitecore seemed very focused on enabling people to achieve the full value of the platform. The feedback from the community has not gone unheard; the updates to Sitecore 9 are aimed at making features more accessible. From unifying and centralizing the data that flows between Sitecore and third-party systems to a total push toward marketing automation, Sitecore is focused on simplifying the powerful tools that Sitecore marketers can access as part of the core platform.

Similarly, we at Hedgehog wanted to display the best of our thought leadership and client success. Client Success Manager Mike Shaw presented with Two Roads Hospitality on Sitecore success in the hospitality vertical and how Two Roads utilized the Hedgehog Capability Maturity Model to focus on the most important parts of their Sitecore marketing strategy. Development Manager Derek Hunzikersat on a panel of illustrious Sitecore community members discussing Helix solutions and using the tools that give your team the most confidence. Marketing Specialist Jacqueline Baxterand Senior Solutions Developer Elena Zlateva Mosoff dove into the importance of social media and the capabilities of Sitecore Social Connect(available with Sitecore 8.0, 8.1 and 8.2) as well as how social media can be used with Path Analyzer, Campaigns and personalization to create a more complete experience for visitors.

Hedgehog debuted our most powerful version of TDS Classic at Symposium: version 5.7 focuses on the speed and enhancements for working with Sitecore Helix architecture and the Sitecore Habitat environment. We were able to demonstrate the new features and performance improvements of TDS Classic 5.7 as well as those of Feydra to a nearly non-stop parade of people who want to use better tools to build the best Sitecore solutions.

We’re gearing up for Sitecore Symposium 2018; a high bar has been set for next year, and I’m looking forward to seeing all the ways in which Hedgehog and the community will exceed expectations. See you in Orlando!
