For Hedgehog CFO Peter Madsen, inspiration lives at the dynamic intersection of technology and finance. Peter kicked off his professional career in the late 1980s as a financial analyst for a large wholesale/retail company. Lucky for him in those tech-infancy days, there was a computer in his department; he quickly taught himself to write basic applications that could automate many mundane tasks. It wasn’t long before he caught the eye of the CTO and moved over to the IT group. Peter had discovered his passion.
Together with Hedgehog cofounder Dan Galvez, Peter started his first company building web applications and websites for local small businesses. Making clients happy with technically solid and well-crafted solutions was endlessly gratifying.
The partners cofounded their second technology consultancy during the maelstrom of the Dotcom collapse, and prevailed despite the storm. With a focus on wealth management, Ruby Digital worked with some of the finance world’s biggest names—allowing Peter and Dan to grow the company from two employees to 25 in seven years
The collegial, family-like, win-win environment at Ruby Digital would live on in the partners’ next and current venture: Hedgehog. Built on the philosophy Hedgehog has evolved into one of the digital world’s go-to firms, providing end-to-end solutions for everyone from global giants to mid-market companies from its five campus locations around the world. For Peter, guiding the firm into robust growth is just as gratifying as seeing its employees grow and prosper too.
Peter has been married for over 26 years; he and his wife have two rescued German Shepherds who rule their home. Peter is a 2011 Long Island CFO of the Year recipient, and co-author of “Professional Sitecore Development”. When he is not running the company Peter enjoys traveling, playing drums and guitar, and discovering new music. A huge Formula One racing fan, he likes to spend his Sunday mornings in front of the TV watching the latest race. Peter holds an Associate’s and Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and a minor in Aeronautical Science from Dowling College in Oakdale, New York.
