Waterlogic

Clean Code, Purified Brand

Founded in 1992, Waterlogic has made its mark in the water-purification space with Firewall, a technology that harnesses ultraviolet (UV) light to destroy bacteria and viruses in water at the point of use. Waterlogic has become a leader in its market by combining sophisticated water filtration with UV purification. The company’s mission: “To be the world’s authority on making quality water accessible through innovation.”

Firewall is used in home and workplace water dispensers and in refrigerators, and Waterlogic is partnering with OEMs all over the globe to create, develop, and deliver other applications for water purification in the healthcare, industrial, leisure, public access, and transport arenas.

Challenge

With an advanced water-purification technology in hand and an initial public offering in the works, Waterlogic needed to refresh its brand image and unveil a website that would underscore its reputation for ingenuity. The company also wanted to leverage its global presence while maintaining a unified look and feel across all operating regions. In addition, Waterlogic needed an online storage repository for its documents—product information, videos, installation guides, etc.—so they could be accessed, distributed, and managed by key personnel anytime, anywhere.

Approach

Loewy conducted extensive research, which included competitive analysis and a review of Waterlogic’s branding guidelines, to develop a strategy for short- and long-term goals. We then tackled the information architecture, mapping out a site structure and flow that would result in the optimal online experience for Waterlogic’s diverse user base.

Loewy designed and developed two websites—a corporate site, with six languages represented, and a stand-alone site for Waterlogic’s Firewall, geared at OEMs. We used WordPress for the content management system (CMS), creating a password-protected document library that could be managed easily by Waterlogic’s marketing team. The CMS can be used to control user rights and privileges, giving corporate website editors access to all content while allowing each country to manage and edit its own site. Waterlogic also can use the CMS to systemize site updates across different business units. For example, a page update in English will generate a page update in other languages as well.

TECHNOLOGY STACK

This website was built using WordPress as its content management system. PHP was used as the server-side scripting language with MySQL as its primary database. jQuery and CSS3 were also used to enhance the front-end user interface and overall usability

Results

Exceeding expectations on all deliverables, we developed an online presence that speaks to Waterlogic’s unique blend of high-tech and approachability. Through WordPress, Waterlogic can keep its product catalog and data repository up to date, search-engine optimization objectives, and create synergy with its social media destinations. What’s more, the scalable, ecommerce-ready corporate site allows Waterlogic to capture and disseminate sales leads worldwide.
