Challenge

SRI approached Loewy with the challenge of designing and building a web application that assists companies with attracting high-caliber employment applicants. The mobile and desktop platforms will give professionals the ability to leverage their connections and earn $1,000 every time a referral is hired.

The web app needed to run on a closed-loop system wherein companies and connectors (a user who makes referrals) remain anonymous. Once a candidate is referred to the company, the connector receives online status updates throughout the hiring process.

Approach

Our first course of action was to plan the online interactions among the different user types and invent a process for referrals, connections, and commissions. Phase two involved creating the technology specifications and the information architecture, which was presented to the client as sitemaps and wireframes. With a sound blueprint in hand, we then designed the user interface for a mobile and a desktop version and began programming.

The web application, called ConnectionsPay, is built for four different user types: companies, connectors, candidates, and administrators, each with its own unique dashboard. The back-end technology is built on PHP with robust content indexing that is used to dynamically prioritize search results that are most relevant to a user’s profile.

TECHNOLOGY STACK

This application was built using PHP as the server-side scripting language, with MySQL as its primary database. jQuery and CSS3 were also used to enhance the front-end user interface and overall usability.
