When Pete Madsen and I started Hedgehog in 2007, we wanted to do the consulting thing differently. From the moment we chose the Hedgehog name, Pete and I have been committed to building a company that people could trust and love being a part of. We wanted to treat our customers fairly, work on interesting things and do it with people that we enjoyed working with.
I couldn’t be happier that all those things are true today.
10 years is a long time, but it’s gone fast. We’ve watched “kids” we hired turn into adult parents, newlyweds have children and bought homes, young professionals become some of the best and most recognized in our industry. A lot of that is thanks to the support of some fantastic people. Our wives and families, accounting and legal advisors, other vendors and strategic platform partners, friends and competitors that became friends have helped us create some of the best Hedgehog moments. When the universe wants to make growing a business hard, they’re the ones that make it a little easier.
I would be remiss if I didn’t also acknowledge a very special relationship we have that helped us to be successful – the one that we have with our clients. Having companies select us as their best option for success is always a great feeling, and the relationships we’ve built with our clients since 2007 is one of the things I’m the most proud of. We’re committed to keeping quality and innovation high as we grow into new verticals and offer more services to help our clients meet the growing needs of the market.
The next 10 years will be big ones for Hedgehog, just as the last 10 years have been. As much as the digital space is changing the fundamentals still hold true. We will see interesting problems that need us to care about them. We will come into challenges as a company and face them head on. That is the Hedgehog way; things that people say can’t happen are exactly the things that get Hedgehogs motivated.
Above all, we’ll continue to build a great team of likeminded people who live our corporate values and are always ready to advance, help and to share what they’ve learned with our clients and the community, and who want to do the best work they can. The reality is, we wouldn’t have it any other way.
