My First Sitecore Project

I’ve been an intern at Hedgehog for 4 months now, and can say it’s been a really good learning experience. I’ve gone from not knowing what Sitecore was, to creating my own Sitecore solution for Hedgehog to use.

Recently, I was given the task to create a Sitecore solution to host our media for all the TVs in the office. Before this solution, every time we wanted to show a video on one of the TVs, we had to plug in a flash drive, browse all the files, find the one we’re looking for, and load it up. And we have a lot of TVs! 🙂

The Sitecore solution I created allows for our content editors to manage all content that shows up on each TV. Now, we host multiple videos on a single Sitecore-powered website and change the content as easy as 1-2-3. We can now create and change the content on each TV and customize it for incoming guests. The same way Sitecore allows for personalization for a website’s visitors we are now personalizing a physical visit to our office!

This was my first solo Sitecore project and I am extremely pleased with the results. I utilized HTML5 and JavaScript to play the various media files. Each TV loads the content sourced form Sitecore through a Google TV box which uses Chrome to render the solution.

If anyone is interested in the code, leave a comment and I will post it!
